Songs to Learn and Sing: Volume 3

A few words on Songs to Learn and Sing compilation CDs taking in: Songs to Learn and Sing Volume 3 (May 2004) and Kraftwerk live at the Olympia on 15 March 2004.

In October 2024 I wrote about the 20th anniversary of my radio show (Songs to Learn and Sing: 20th Anniversary). In that post I mentioned that I had found a few CDs in the attic, compilations of tracks played on the radio show in its first year.

In December 2024 I wrote about those compilations and compiled Spotify playlists of them (Songs to Learn and Sing: Christmas 2004 Compilations).

Recently I found a few more Songs to Learn and Sing compilation CDs and this mixed CD.

I love this mix, it’s a selection of newer tunes that I was listening to at the time and a bunch of oldies. I mixed in film extracts from loads of my favourite movies: North By Northwest, The Killing, The Swimmer, Strangers On A Train, The Thin Red Line, Brighton Rock. There are also vox pop recordings from a record fair in Dún Laoghaire mixed in. It stands up. The cover features Kraftwerk live at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin on 5 March, 2004. It was the first time Ralf Hütter and co. played in Ireland and at the time it was the most expensive concert ticket I had ever purchased.
